Rick Warren's Tweets, yes, that's with a capital T, as if it is a pronoun, which in this case, it is. Rick Warren's Tweets last night were really informing and encouraging:

25% of my reading is from the 1st 1500 yrs of the church, 25% from last 500yrs, 25% from last 100 yrs, 25% current.

Leaders are readers but narrow reading only reinforces your biases. You won't grow until you read books out of your stream.

Reading more is simple: Turn off the TV! There's little on it that will matter a wk from now, much less 10yrs or for eternity.

Like said, it's amazingly inspiring stuff!


Isiah showed me this link displaying the power of HTML5. A couple of months ago Steve Jobs said that Adobe Flash, which is used everyone on the internet is obsolete. He got a lot of backlash for making that comment. Which in a year could be absolutely true! Check out this link and experience the power of HTML5. Make sure that you're using either Google Chrome or Safari too. Internet Explorer can't run HTML5 well and Firefox has some hickups with it as well but it's not too bad. Also, make sure you put in your address correctly.



Sometimes people ask me, "What are you up to Johan?" Sometimes I like to respond sarcastically, "Ehh, not too much. You know, just me and my banjo. You know, touring the country." But I have been telling Pajjar that I've been wanting a banjo lately. I wonder if you can rent them from Schmitts? I really want to learn how to play one and try to even lead worship with it. I think it'll be interesting.

Just read this out of Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology:

"One day by God's grace we may have churches full of Christian who can discuss, apply, and live the doctrinal teachings of the Bible as readily as they can discuss the details of their own jobs or hobbies-or the fortunes of their favorite sports team or television program. It is not that Christians lack the ability to understand doctrine; it is just that they must have access to it in an understandable form. Once that happens, I think that many Christians will find that understanding (and living) the doctrines of Scripture is one the their greatest joys.

I’ve been really hesitant in getting a new phone because every time I go look at the Verizon Wireless store/kiosk I’m really unimpressed. In fact, when I go look at any cell phone carrier’s selection of phones I’m unimpressed. It’s mainly because I want an iPhone but don’t want to switch carriers. But behold!

Verizon is on the verge of releasing its G4 network and is the nation’s largest cell phone carrier. If you were Apple, wouldn’t it be smart to try to access Verizon’s 86 million customers? AT&T’s exclusive contract to be the only iPhone carrier in the US expires this year.

I’ve never used an iPhone before but I have been using my iPod Touch a lot and many, many times, I’ve wished that I could make a phone call with it or access the internet with it from anywhere.

no... news about GM broke my heart today. It's so sad! Pontiac will be terminated in 2010 and Hummer, Saturn, and Saab will cease production by the end of the year. WOW! I'm a little speachless by all this. But it's either this or bankruptcy.

MIX 08: APPLE VS MICROSOFT!!!

HAPPY EARTH DAY EVERYONE!

I know I’m late on this, but I just finished watching the keynote from Mix 08 with Guy Kawasaki (a former Mac evangelist, his old job was to convince hardware and software companies to make stuff to sell to the public that was for the Mac) interviewing Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. That’s right! A Mac guy interviewing the CEO of Microsoft!!! When I heard about this I had to track to it down!

Guy held back no punches and asked some awesome questions like:

"What’s up with Microsoft and Yahoo?"
"Are you guys pursuing Yahoo because Google is making a bunch of money off internet ads? Is that the future?"
"I bet you (Steve Ballmer) can’t even say the ‘Google’ word?”
“How come there’s no Internet Explorer 8 for the Mac?”

BUT MY FAVORITE QUESTION WAS:

GUY KAWASAKI: Okay. Another not so softball, what's the deal with Vista? Seriously, I mean…
STEVE BALLMER: Seriously?
GUY KAWASAKI: Yes, I mean seriously. Shall I say I read a very funny blog.
STEVE BALLMER: Vista, the second most popular operating system in history?
GUY KAWASAKI: The one that you get no choice in getting. (Laughter from audience.)

Question from an audience member: Hi. We all know that the format wars ended recently with Blu-Ray being the winner. I wanted to know what were your thoughts on that, and do you have any plans with Blu-Ray technology with the Xbox and stuff like that?

I kind of want a MacBook Air now. I only need it for internet and school work. It’s not like I’m going to be editing movies with it. I’ll use my iMac for that, hahaha!

But in all honesty, I think Steve Ballmer is an amazing CEO! He’s got a really unique personality which Microsoft needs right now. Both Guy and Ballmer were both great sports which made for an interesting interview

Pajjar's New MacBook

I finally got Pajjar and my wireless printer set up. Seriously! It's so cool to be able to print stuff from our laptops without having to bring our laptops near our printer and connecting that USB cable into it. We can literally print stuff from anywhere, as long as we have connection to our router. We can even print stuff from inside our cars in our parking lot! Nice!

Pajjar also finally got her first brand-new computer. In college, she got a hand-me-down laptop computer from her dad. It was old and slow and the screen didn't work, so she had to hook it up to an old CRT screen (those old tv sized computer screens). That computer didn't even have internet! Her parents have helped her other siblings get computers for themselves but never for her. That's why I decided that she needs a new computer of her own because she's never had one! Last Sunday we got her a new MacBook. It was funny, she felt guilty because she felt like she was betraying Bill Gates by buying a Mac.

Here are some other Apple related projects that I want to do, in no particular order.

1. Install Windows XP on to both of our Macs, just to be cool! And so that I can play video games on her computer.

2. Get an Apple Time Capsule so that we can wireless backup both our Macs with Time Machine. Plus we can return that router back to Qwest so that we don't have to pay that dang $8 rental fee every month!

3. Buy a MacMini and set it up in our closet as a music and photo server. It'll be like our own personal juke box/media server. As long as our computers have internet access we can access our music and photos. Plus it'll free up a lot of space up on our laptops, prolonging the life of our harddrives. If we don't have internet access, it's okay because we'll still have our iPods to listen to music with.

4. Buy an AppleTV interface and rip all of our movies and TV shows on it. Plus! It will be able to access our media server so that we can look at our pictures on our tv, as well as listen to music, if desired.

Hey guys! We're in ILL - E - NOISE!!! We're baby sitting the kids today. Riley's eating potato chips. Kameron is sleeping. I'm looking at Magic cards and surfing the internet. Pajjar's watching What Not to Wear. I'm super glad that the new MacBooks have way better video capabilities but I'm glad I have the old ones, because if I could play computer games, I WOULD!!!

Let’s Rock???

I’ve officially become an Apple freak! When I lived in Chicago, I bashed Apple, even though I owned an iPod Nano and used iTunes. But overtime, I started to desire a Mac because of it’s perfomance and abilities. There is no PC out there that can make me switch back. Unless it has an operating system as stable, user friendly, and stream lined as OS X and has something better then iTunes, iPhoto, Garage Band, iCal, Time Machine, Mail, etc. I’ve pretty much turned from a Saul to a Paul! Hallelujah, praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

I have a 16GB iPod Touch, which cost my groomsmen about $400. The 8GB iPhone costs only $200, half of my iPod Touch! That's crazy! Now, I know that a data plan with AT&T is going to cost you at least $70, but still! The prices are all messed up! Don't fear!

There's a new Apple Event: "Let's Rock" scheduled for Sept. 9! I'll be on Apple's website and various Apple blogs all day! I really do wonder what they're going to release, probably a newer, sleeker, faster, with larger screens, at a lower price iPod. I hope they adjust the Touch prices because I LOVE MY TOUCH! It holds my videos, some of my wedding pictures, my to-do-list, grabs my email, lets me surf the web in bed, is my calendar, has my contacts, and has some games!

I don't have the NES or the SNES emulator but that's because I'm scared to hack my iPod Touch. Has anyone been able to hack their touch and be completely comfortable with it? Let me know.
