I forget who said that, probably Andy Stanley (left) or John Maxwell (right), regardless of who said it, I like it.One of the first things I do when I get into work is read Proverbs. I try to read the day's corresponding chapter. For example today is the 5th, so I would of read chapter 5 of Proverbs today. It's a great way for me to start my day off right. After that I make my list.
I remember former Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (left) saying "You plan the work, then you work the plan." That's what my to-do list is for me at work, I plan out my work for the day and then I work through my plan thoughout the day. Also at the end of my day, while I'm backing up and logging out of my computer, I make a prep list of stuff I need to do tomorrow. This helps making my list the following morning much easier.
Also, I use the Behance Action Method. It's just your regular project and productivity manager but it's aimed for "creatives." Check out thier website here: http://www.actionmethod.com/. I find their stuff works just as good for "non-creatives."Sometimes after a long day it's hard for me to get work off my mind. There have been many times where I've said no to friends who want to play Magic or go to FNM, because after a long day of thinking, working, and problem sovlving, the last thing I want to do is think more and even harder playing a card game. But one trick that works for me is to listen to music on my way home. I only live 10 minutes from my work place so I have to pick my 1-2 songs carefully.
My all-time go-to song is "My name is Jonas" by Weezer. But instead of "Jonas" I sometimes say "Johan." And @ the 1:50 mark, they sing "The worker's are going home." I like to think of one of those "workers" as me.
As of late, another song that has really helped me transition my mind away from work is this one:
Ride the Lightning by Metallica (Wow! Rock Band looks really fun!)
Have a great weekend everyone!
