speeches at the reception
the wedding went well and thank goodness there were no big surprises. overall, it was a great wedding and we are really happy for hoseng & bao. when i look at them, they look so young to me hehe. we are excited for what the future holds for them.
johan's family was also in town for 3 weekends in a row! it was pretty crazy for johan's parents and jeremiah. the first weekend they attended my brother's wedding. the next weekend they were in town for our uncle's father-in-law's retirement party. then the third weekend, they were in town for a celebration party for our cousin, aw.
he was in stage 4 of throat cancer, but by the hand of God, his cancer went into remission. praise God! so many people were praying for him. the last time we visited him, he was frail and tired out from all the chemo. when we saw him at the party, he looked genuinely happy and his face was bright.
we heard his family's testimonies as well. it broke my heart when i heard his dad talk about how it should have been him with the cancer and how his son should have been driving him to get chemo, not the other way around...and when his wife talked about how short-lived their marriage could have been and how their two sons would have been fatherless, wow...it really hit home. we thank God that aw is here with us. his life is a living testament of God's love and miracles! it was truly a celebration of the personal hell he went through and then conquered by God's hand. personally, when i hear of these medical miracles there is no other explanation other than God. really truly all the glory belongs to Him.
i dont think we ever blogged about our 3 year anniversary...! it was a quiet night. we just went out for dinner together to 112 eatery. johan made reservations and it was AWESOME!!!! the chef, isaac becker, was the 2011 winner for best chef in the midwest. this was what we had that night:
- pan friend gnocchi
- cauliflower fritters (pictured below)
- halibut with fingerling potatoes & chorizo (johan)
- stringozzi with lamb sugo (pajjar)

the food was delicious! the wine was great. actually when the waiter opened the bottle for johan's glass, the cork flew across the room, hit a lady, and then zigzagged in the other direction. it was hilarious. it caught everyone's attention in the restaurant. hehe.
i have to say the pan friend gnocchi was SOOO delicious. everything was good that night, but the gnocchi was AMAZING. it tasted like a little piece of heaven in your mouth. =) it was a great night. happy 3 years anniversary to johan and me! let's see where life takes us in the next few years, hun.
we hope everyone is doing well!
God bless,
p

Congrats on your big 3! I'm so excited to hear about your many more adventures...and maybe...even a little bundle of joy. haha. Thank you for sharing your cousin's struggle. It inspires me to be more thankful for life, realizing how fragile it is and how everyday we breathe, is truly a miracle.
