Here's part 1:
Every pedal board needs a Tubescreamer, or at least a pedal based upon the Tubescreamer's circuit. That's what I honestly believe! THAT and a tuner!
Here's part 2:
I bought the ITS8 kit for $76 ($60 for the ITS8 kit, $1 more for the bigger enclosure, $8 for the $400 Landgraff Dynamic Overdrive mod, & $7 for USPS Priority shipping) from General Guitar Gadgets, which is way cheaper than trying to buy a $169 to $300+ original or reissue of the pedal.
The ITS8 kit is schematically identical to the original TS808. In the world of guitar pedals, if it matches schematically, then that's as close as you're going to get, apart from rare original parts and components.
My next project is a General Guitar Gadgets Jack-of-All-Mini Boosters Boutique Boost. Rumors are that it's a Fulltone Fat Boost (version 1 or 2), I'll have to check the Gear Page to confirm this.
Then I would love to try to build a Build Your Own Clone Overdrive 2 with the MOSFET mod. Eventually I want to build the following as well:
- Mad Bean Pedals Fulltone FullDrive 2 MOSFET
- self-made veroboard PaulCAudio Timmy
- Mad Bean Pedals Xotic AC or RC Boost
- self-made veroboard Zvex Fuzz Factory
- Mad Bean Pedals AnalogMan King of Tone
- Mad Bean Pedals Klon Centaur
- as well as a bunch of other pedals!
I'M SUCH A NERD! I LOVE IT!
