the movie was freakin hilarious, omg, i laffed so hard at times! i'm not sure if guys would really get the movie, but kristen wiig and her friend did a great job writing the storyline. johan wanted to watch it too, but since it was a "girls nite out" we will have to catch it on dvd when it comes out. =) you really couldn't even tell what the movie was about from the trailers, but the storyline was actually really good.
WARNING-SPOILER ALERT!
in the movie, kristen wiig's character starts growing distant from her "best friend" played by maya rudolph when maya's character gets engaged. i think all girls can relate to growing distant from friends at one point or another in their lives...it's a part of life really! some friends enter your life for only a season of time. only a select few are really TRUE friends for the rest of your life.
growing up i think all little girls tried having a "best friend". you know that someone whom you bought that two piece "best friends forever" necklace with hehe. but honestly when i look back upon my life, i dont really believe i ever had a best friend. i've always had a lot of great friends and like i said above, they've always come and gone during different seasons in my life. i'm always thankful to have had them in my life. every person plays a special role no matter how small.

i admit i did have someone who i called a "best friend" when i was older...we knew each other since we were 15 i think and remained friends up until a few years ago. he got married, and i got married and the dynamics in our relationship changed. but all is well! =)
sometimes i think girls have such a romanticized image of having a "BEST FRIEND". it kind of irks me because in the movie i kind of understood why kristen wiig's character got so mad at the other bridesmaid who was competing for maya rudolph's attention, but at the same time, i was like: why can't they all just be friends? i didn't understand that part...i mean when you label a relationship as a "best friend" you're basically drawing a circle around that relationship that signifies to others that you have something really special that no one else does and that others are unwelcome. it's great for the two-three people who are close, but at the same time i think it can make others feel left out and unwanted--> just like the third bridesmaid who really wanted to be maya rudolph and kristen wiig's friend.
that's my personal outlook, and obviously i'm biased because of certain things that have happened in my past. that's why i always got along better with guys because they weren't catty and didn't ostracize other guys like how girls would. guys are generally more outgoing and accepting and they just want to have a good time. when i think back to my past and reflect about times when i was most alone, i know that God was my best friend and always will be!
well, i just wanted to voice some things that were on my mind after watching the movie. i was most happy at the end of the movie when Wilson Phillips sang "hold on." kekeke. what a classic! love it!
God bless,
p
