General Guitar Gadgets Jack-of-All-Mini Boosts (GGG JOAM) Boutique Boost

So here's a video of me building my General Guitar Gadgets Jack-of-All-Mini Boosts (GGG JOAM) Boutique Boost pedal. This pedal is very similar to version 1 or 2 of the Fulltone Fat-Boost. I'm not sure if Fulltone copied GGG, vice-versa, or if they copied each other at all. I do know that they are both based upon a popular MOSFET boost circuit. I do see a natural progression/evolution of the circuit from the original MOSFET boost into the GGG JOAM & Fat-Boost though.

I love the GGG JOAM Boutique Boost! It fits in really well with my rig. Since I play a G&L ASAT Special, which is a brighter sounding guitar, into Tubescreamers, set to have a nice bright, mid-range presence, into an amp that is set to a brighter sound. A treble boost would only make my solo/boost sound even brighter and maybe brittle on higher pitched notes. Now if I was playing a guitar with humbuckers, a treble boost would be better for punching through the band. But since my guitar sound is already quite bright, adding volume and some bass, seems to give me that desired solo/boost sound.

Remember that all of gear interacts with each other. Each component of your rig works with and against each other. Use good theory and your ears to determine if something is working for you. As for the my G&L ASAT Special, my Tubescreamers, and my Voxy sounding amp, the GGG JOAM Boutique Boost works great together!

I'm currently working on a Build Your Own Clone (BYOC) OD2 Overdrive 2. It's all built but I'm having a ground issue with it. As soon as I get a few hours of free time, I'll try to debug it with my multimeter and get it working. Wish me luck!
