Bill Hybels

Starbucks CEO and founder, Howard Schultz, was scheduled to speak at The Global Leadership Summit but decided not to because a gay rights group felt that Willow Creek was anti-gay. I love Bill Hybels' response!

"We challenge homosexuals and heterosexuals to live out the sexual ethics taught in the scriptures which encourages full sexual expression between a man & a women in the context of marriage, & prescribes sexual abstinence & purity for everybody else. But even as we challenge all of our people to these biblical standards we do so with grace filled spirits knowing the confusion & brokenness that is rampant in our fallen world, we honor the journey of everyone."

"What further saddening to me is the growing trend, specifically in the United States' culture, to throw stone first and ask questions late. We see this in our politcal system and it's quickly making our country ungovernable."

Growing up in Willow Creek's backyard, I never gave Bill Hybels a second thought. Thanks for the interesting post. mk
