Magic 2010 (aka 11th Edition)

Wow…

The changes to the new Core Set are pretty drastic in my opinion. Hopefully for the better!

I’m glad that Vern’s Black Knight will be back.Good: Does that mean White Knight will be coming back too?
Bad: What will happen to Stillmoon Cavalier (one of my favorite cards)?

The five original Planeswalkers from Lorwyn are coming back as Mythic Rares!Good: Yes! Jace is here to stay as well as Ajani Goldmane!
Bad: I just hope I don’t open up too many Mythic Rare Chandra Nalaars, hahaha!

There’s going to be a new Core Set every year!
Good: A set with something new and exciting and old and familiar every year, very cool! The new Core Set will change the meta-game and will keep it fresh.
Bad: No more 2 block sets like Lorwyn/Morningtide & Shadowmoor/Eventide. No more 1 block sets like Coldsnap & Unhinged. The new Core Set will change the meta-game. I just hope they don’t bring back Birds of Paradise in 2010, then remove it in 2011, then bring it back in 2012, then take it out again 2013, that would be annoying.

Birds of Paradise is coming back!Good: Birds of Paradise is coming back!
Bad: No dual, pain, shock, or Ravnica lands are coming in M10. How sad…

Half of the cards are going to be reprints, while the other half are going to be new.
Good: Like I said above, Black Knight & the planewalkers will be back.
Bad: Not as many of the good old cards will be coming back, like Hypnotic Specter or Armageddon or Blood Moon.

It was good to see everyone this past weekend even though it was short and hectic. I love my family and my friends. Lord protect them and guide them according to your ways.

If the core sets are released every year, then why not alternate birds in each set? Standard is the last two years of magic, so the birds will always stay in standard even if it gets alternated.

I'm super excited about Black Knight's return. The Stillmoon would never make a core set because of it's casting cost.

You think it's possible that the new dual lands would be the life gain lands, like Grove of the Burnwillows?

Oh yeah, Coldsnap technically is the third set to Ice Age.

Veeps, you are on to something there. Grove of the Burnwillows, i totally forgot!

Johan, i'm super excited for your guy's tourney. please give me a full run down of the event.

maybe someone would be willing to make a documentary of this historic event. i'm sure it will be super memorable for you guys and all would like a tape of it, i know i would. you know something simple just to record the memories and top matches. also maybe even a deck tech during the wait between matches.

anyhow, just wondering.
