reflections

this week ive been thinking about a lot of different things. first, i want to share a couple of things that keep me laffing and smiling:

-johan was eating napa cabbage soup at work and his coworker thought we were struggling financially so badly that we had to resort to eating that. Imagine his shock when johan told him that we wanted to eat it! Haha. His coworker was about to take him to a buffet. Lol.

-johan asked why he never sees me brush my hair. LOL. I wasn’t offended, but thought it was hilarious. He was like: “I always see girls brush their hair in movies, but I don’t see u brush your hair.”

-I dreamt a second time that taylor swift and I were friends. im such a nerd!

just to give you a little context, ive been struggling a lot about my purpose, my future, my career, finding a job etc. this past week i listened to a sermon at my church by pastor steve wiens about how adam and eve were so ashamed after eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil that they sewed fig leaves together to clothe themselves. even though God specifically told them not to do that, He didn't want them to wear the fig leaves and made garments out of skins for them.

Our faithful Father loves us so much that even when we disappoint Him, he still wants the best for us...it amazes and humbles me that i can somehow please God. He is so holy, so righteous, that i dont know how somebody like me could ever please Him...

a second sermon that i listened to from north point community church was about feeling trapped at work. whether you're looking for work, working at a stable job, or just been laid off, everyone can relate to this sermon. we are constantly searching for purpose at work and pastor jeff henderson pointed out that we can't understand our purpose AT work until we understand God's purpose FOR work. He's the one who created work! now why did He create it for us?

this sermon really posed some thought-provoking questions for me because ive been wondering about my purpose in this career of law. pastor jeff really challenged me to realize that my purpose at work -watever kind of work im in- is to demonstrate that God is at work in my life! Colossians 3:23 says: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." i listened to this sermon twice already. man its so good!

work is actually a blessing given to us by God. whether or not you feel that your work is purposeful is insignificant. wat matters is that God worked and created for 6 days and rested on the 7th. He found this work to be so meaningful that He wanted His children to be able to experience this same kind of happiness, so here we are working 50%-60% of our lives because God has willed us to. every job has a purpose and that purpose whether we're picking up garbage, working in management, or being a cashier is to show others that God is AT work in our lives. wat a challenge! my mind is still trying to wrap itself around this TRUTH. im gonna listen to this sermon again to drill these truths into my head and heart. i hope this sermon challenges you too. listen to it if you have time!

God bless your weekend!
