My New Pedal Board

Here's it is! My newest pedal! A Line 6 M9 Stompbox Modeler!

With some cash I got for Christmas and some PayPal funds from some Magic cards/decks that I've sold on eBay, I was able to pick up a Line 6 M9! I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay on the modeler route or get individual pedals, but after some more research, planning, and thinking I decided that the M9 was the best route.

Here's my pedal board from before: I used a Line 6 POD X3 for all of my effects but it just took up too much space on my pedal board. I wasn't quite satisfied with it because it was a bit cumbersome tweaking the settings on the POD. Plus, the sound quality was just okay and could of been better as well. I will still keep the POD because it's awesome in the studio because can emulate amps and is my recording interface for guitar, bass, and vocals.

The POD was so big that I couldn't close my case with it on the board, so I always had to carry it seperatly, which was a hassle. I'll probably still bring my POD with me where ever I go, just in case. Its saved the day before!

After spending about 6 hours on Saturday, here's my new pedal board! I even went to the extent of cleaning my pedals with some Goo-Gone & Q-Tips, revelcroing some of the pedals, printing some new labels, and rewiring the board so that it looked clean and neat.

Here's the bottom of the pedal board. On the top left is the power supply for the M9 and on the top right is a Dunlop Brick, which powers the rest of my pedal boards. The Brick still has 2 more available 9v jacks, unfortunately the 3 18v jacks are blown.

Here's my new finished pedal board! It's simple but yet gets the job done! I even printed out a "Guitar In" label with some arrows pointing to my tuner and a "To Amp" label and placed it on the output of my Sonic Stomp. Click on the picture to see bigger photo of my board. Here's my signal path:

1. Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner - I've owned this pedal for a long time, for at least 6+ years, and that's a long time for a gearhead like me! I've literally owned pedals for a weekend before selling them on either Craigslist or eBay. Unfortunately, this guy's gonna get upgraded in the future to a TC Electronic Ploytune.

2. Ibanez TS5 Soundtank Tubescreamer w/ Indy Guitarist TS-808! mod (self modified) - I love this pedal, it's probably my go to overdrive sound at the moment. I love modifying pedals because you're able to achieve a "boutique" sound for a fraction of the price. Plus you get to cater/develop/adjust/tweak/experiment with the sound of the pedal to your own liking and needs. Modifying pedals really allows you to have a unique tone of your own, as well as a unique looking pedalboard with some great stories attached to each individual pedal. Even though I love modifying guitar pedals and will probably do it for the rest of my life, I think I'm ready for the next step of building my own guitar pedals. Who knows! Maybe, one day I'll start my own line of guitar pedals to sell!

3. Ibanez TS5 Soundtank Tubescreamer w/ Indy Guitarist TS Standard mod (self modified) - These mod'ed TS5s sound amazing! I think I got each one for $25, parts costed me another few bucks, less than an hour later, and I've got some killer tone!

4. Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive w/ Indy Guitarist Mosfet mod (self modified) - I picked up this pedal for about $20 from a pawn shop and after some mod'ing, it now sounds like Fulltone Fulldrive 2 with the Boost on! I love this guy!

5. Line 6 M9 Stompbox Modeler - My newest toy! The delays, mods, filters, and reverbs sound pretty good on this guy! I prefer the sound of my overdrives compared to the M9's, plus I don't want to take up an FX spot/bank for an overdrive/distortion sound, when I've already got some great pedals that can cover those tones. I'm quite impressed with some of the fuzz sounds as well!

6 BBE Sonic Stomp - aka "The Treatment." I love this pedal! It does some really technical things to your sound that just makes your guitar sound so much better! This pedal, will probably stay on my board for a long time.

Thanks for looking and reading! I still have lots of plans for my pedal board like maybe a true bypass looper because the switches on the TS5s aren't that great, a volume pedal for swells, etc., etc., etc. I'll be putting up a YouTube pedalboard walk through video sometime later this week or next week if I have time! Thanks again!

Nice board! I've never tried or heard the TS5 before. I'm intrigued now. I love my M9 too. The tubescreamer on it actually isn't too bad. I tweaked it the way I like it. I still can't believe I got it for free! I'm looking to get a Timmy next though. Are you still playing a G&L asat?
