Guitar Pickups

I've only changed my pickups once. I used to own a Squier Pro-Tone Strat that had 3 single coil pickups in it. I replaced the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Invader because Tom DeLonge from Blink 182 used one. HEY! This was back in 1998, I've changed a lot since then. I then swapped out the Invader for the classic Seymour Duncan JB Model. Which is what Billie Joe from Green Day used in his strat. I've been thinking about getting a 2nd guitar because my main guitar is getting beat up from all of the traveling, changes in the weather that it experiences, and from just regular good-old fashion playing. .

I've been thinking about building my own guitar, maybe from Warmoth. The thing is that these guitar don't have a great resale value but on the other hand, they're completely customizable and if they're built properly, they're just as solid as a Fender American Standard guitar. A well built Warmoth guitar with quality parts will probably cost around $1000, but for a guitarist, getting the chance to design a guitar to your exact specs is priceless.

Right now I'm leaning towards a Fender Thinline, Deluxe, or Carbonita tele body, with some type of either sunburst, solid black with some binding on both sides of the body, or a classic butterscotch with a black pickguard. The neck would be a hard maple neck with a large headstock, for more sustain. Of course there would also be a Bigsby tremolo and the pickups would probably be Seymour Duncan PRails (pictured above).

Just like the P-Rails, some of Vox's new guitar comes with CoAxe pickups, which allows you to choose from either a humbucker sound, single coil, or P-90 sound. I've yet to try these pickups or guitar out but the possibility having all of those variations in tone, is very appealing to me.

Seymour Dunan just released some pickups that are wrapped in silver that start at $395 for just one single coil pickup! YHESH! I do want to try these pickups out though, hahaha!

Have a great weekend everyone!
