Musical Listening Quest of Conquering My iTunes Library

I told Pajjar and myself that I would listen to all of my music on my iTunes at least once before I bought any new music. So the last CD I bought was Radiohead’s In Rainbows about 4 or 5 months ago. Bodysnatchers crazy intro chord pattern is one of my favorite guitar riffs/chord progressions of the year so far. And I bought Al Gordon’s Future Sounds a couple of weeks ago. But besides that, I haven’t bought anything. According to my iTunes I have:

4,688 items, 13.3 days, 23.61 GB of music

All of which I own. About a year ago my iBook went out and I lost everything and so when I got my new MacBook all of the music on it, which I had to rip, is music that I own. Something I am proud of. My iTunes contains no pirated music, except for mixes that people have gave me. I’ve probably listened to 25% of my music at least once so far. I’ve got a long way to go but I’m totally loving listening to all of my old music. Plus my list of CDs that I want to buy is getting excitingly long, I think I just might give that list to Pajjar for Christmas once I’ve listened to all of my music at least once. I think every Tuesday I’m going to review a CD or a song or a movie or a video game or a book or something. I think that’ll be fun. So here are some songs that I’ve rediscovered in my quest to listen to all of my songs at least once.

It’s Alright by Everyone – this song reminds me of Josh and MK because of that part goes “New bird, bluebird, singing on my shoulder, and I don’t feel much older.” Bluebird aka MK.

Love Me Do by The Beatles – I think when I have children, I’m gonna start a Beatles cover band. How cool would it be to play lead guitar as your son sings those old Beatles classics while your daughter plays the drums?

You Love to Sing by Copeland – “In Motion” is such a good CD! One of my all time favorites! I just love the lyrics “Sing with your head up, with your eyes closed. Not because you love the song, but cuz you love to sing, because you love to sing.”

The Right Place by the Derailers – seriously, all you guitar players need to hear this song. It’s got some of the sweetest country Tele sounds! Check it out at the iTunes store.

Transformer by Gnarls Barkley – this song is crazy. Danger Mouse is one creative guy! “I can transform without even trying.” Check it out at the iTunes store.

Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads – Many say that the two most influential bands from the 80s were The Velvet Underground and the Talking Heads. “Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better!”

Walcott by Vampire Weekend – I’m sucker for these guys! You have to check out this song on iTunes. It’s so brilliant. Check out the (Insane Mix) as well! Brilliant!

Conquest by the White Stripes – CON-ON-ON-QUEST!
