Back in high school, my dad came home and was all excited about this thing he heard called an “mp3.” He said, “It’s going to revolutionize music!” I being a typical high schooler replied back with attitude, “What are talking about dad?!?” He kept on saying that he heard it on the radio and went into detail about it, while I just gave him a “whatever” look. I think I eventually just left and went to my room as he was in mid-sentence. Fast forward two years later: I am downloading mp3s via Napster over a 56k modem and apologizing to my dad for my attitude 2 years before.
Another time during high school my dad came home with this article he ripped out of an electronics magazine. I remember him saying “This machine uses a blue laser to read data, not a red one like CDs and DVDs.” Again I replied with attitude, “and I guess that makes it prettier right dad?” Fast forward 8 years and now it seems like BlueRay is the next thing and in a few years, DVDs could become obsolete.
Earlier last week, I was talking to my dad and he was telling me about “cloud computing.” Imagine a computer without a hard drive that you can literally take anywhere! Even thinner and lighter then the MacBook Air! It can access the internet any where and your hard drive is online! Yes, online! Not in the computer! He said that he heard that Google and Apple are working on this together. Google already has GoogleAps, which is just as good as Microsoft Word or Excel, that you can use for FREE online AND you can save these documents online. All you need now is a computer that can access it from anywhere, LIKE THE IPHONE! He said that this is the future, and this time I will listen.
