Summer Ending

My first day of school was yesterday. I had one class and it only lasted for 1 ½ hours. Luckily I ran into some friends and a new Hmong girl who’s attending William Mitchell! I met another girl briefly at orientation, so there’s only one more Hmong girl left to meet. Still no Hmong guys at our school except for Pao. =) Today I’m off work and school, but I have some research to do for the place I’m volunteering at.
Is summer really over? With the wedding and then both of us going to summer school, we don’t know when our summer vacation started?! Maybe it never did. After summer school ended we moved, my grandmother moved, and then my parents and brothers moved, and then we had the funeral and now school’s here. Life passes you by so fast! Somehow I was able to fit in reading 6 books though so I’m really happy! Haha.
I read the 4 books in the Twilight series, Wide Awake by Erwin McManus, and then Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller. That should kinda make up for the last 2 years when I didn’t do any kind of recreational reading at all! You can totally tell that I’ve been CRAVING for reading outside of law school. Haha.
As for this semester, I have a couple of hard classes…Then I’m taking Feminist Jurisprudence, which I’m really excited to take. I took a women’s course at Bethel too and really enjoyed it. Then I have an externship where I get to observe and perhaps co-chair mediations in mainly divorce, and perhaps in business and church disputes too. Then I’m volunteering for a negotiation and social justice center. I’m also keeping my job at school (researching) and then just got hired at Ann Taylor. That job is my outlet to the outside world! Haha. That job will allow me to realize that there are other things going on outside of law school.
Johan starts school this Monday and will be taking 4-5 classes. He’s going to try to find a part-time job, so please pray for that. Being married is harder. But it’s also a lot of fun and I mean that genuinely. We have our hard times, but at the end of the day we’ve realized that we can’t stay upset at each other because we love each other. So that resolves it…..if it’s not already resolved. It’s been wonderful the last few months. I’m thankful that I found Johan…..Sometimes it still blows me away that I’m married. For someone who was so independent and who never thought she’d settle down or at least not this soon, it’s been a great surprise to get married so soon.
We might go watch a movie with vern, lig, kt, and kelvin tonite so that should be fun! We have no other big plans for the weekend, so we’ll see what goes on. Take care guys and let us know how you guys are doing.

Love, johan and p

p.s. please pray for my crazy brother who's taking his MCATS today!
