Tangents & Tuesday Reviews

David Crowder has been talking about Michael Gungor, an amazing worship leader and song writer. I like that paper cut out of God, I'm going to make one now.

Here’s a picture of Jesus.

Tuesday Releases:
Newsboys – In the Hands of God

Newsboys in the studio: Michael Tait in the middle with Peter Furler in the front (slightly blurred out). Michael Tait is their new lead singer!?!

Future of Forestry – Travel (One of the most underrated P&W bands out there, these guys have worked with Pete Yorn, Beck, Copeland, etc.)

Conor Oberst – Outer South

St. Vincent – Actor

Probably the most critically acclaimed album being released today. Here’s a clip of her practicing for SXSW filmed by NPR’s All Songs Considered. Her guitar playing is really fun sounding. I've been humming/whistling/singing her guitar lines all day.

Just got an email from the Source stating that they’re going to start FNM in June! YES! I wonder if Aaron from Air Traffic/Nova Games/Caribou Coffee is going to be running it. I hope they keep TNM, I like the crowd there.

If you guys aren’t busy tonight, John Eldridge will be speaking at Church of the Open Door about his new book “Fathered By God.” It’s $16 bucks but will be worth it. I heard him speak one time about his other book “Wild at Heart,” real eye-opening stuff. I remember him saying that society has made men believe that we are supposed to be like Mr. Rogers, harmless and a little effeminate, instead he tells us that we are to be rugged, to look deep into our hearts, to explore our hearts like how we explore the wilderness, that a man is truly wild at heart.

Aaron Niequist is one of my favorite praise and worship leaders. He used to lead worship at Mars Hill Bible Church (Rob Bell’s church) but is now currently leading at Willow Creek in Chicago (his wife is Bill Hybels' daughter).

"Help us to worship more than singing, giving Redemption hands and feet" "We have been changed to bring change." I like those lines a lot!

He’s probably one of the most creative worship leaders I know. Everyone in the worship blogosphere is talking about how recently he lead worship in a style that he likes to call “Arcade Fire meets Sufjan Stevens.”

I know that I've already posted up too many words and too many pictures and too many videos but I just had to show you guys one more video! I LOVE THIS BAND! Their music is so powerful! I just want to swear!

3:42! Wait for 3:42! The choir enters and repeats "Send up a prayer in my name." Gosh... I just want to cry! It's so good!

Seriously! I gotta find this DVD somewhere!

Thanks for spending the last 10-20 minutes with me! I greatly appreciate it! Remember that "God is Love" and that "You've been changed, so that you can bring change." Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!
