Some people believe that Gear Man Dude is Jack Black.
Some believe that Gear Man Dude is Christian Slater.I believe that "I am" Gear Man Dude. That there's a Gear Man Dude inside all of us. Why? Because he loves a good sweet overdrive tone and your crazy fuzzed-out solos, just like me and all of us.
Over the summer I've actually watched all of his videos, some of them a couple of times. That's over 650 videos of guitar gear! That's 68 hours of guitar pedal videos! That's almost 3 days worth of my life spent on watching and listening to this guy talk and play the guitar! Obsessive? Yes! And yes, I've been keeping track of how much time I've spent watching his videos.
I believe that Gear Man Dude has saved me thousands of dollars with his pedal videos. Normally I would have to buy the pedal in order to hear how it sounded like. But thanks to his videos, all I have to do now is watch and listen. He's also saved me months of testing and comparing. Thanks Gear Man Dude!
One of my next goals is to catchup watching Pro Guitar Shop. Andy is a great guitar player that plays some of the coolest guitar riffs. Sometimes his choice of guitar riffs are so awesome that I have to stop a video mid-point and learn how to play that guitar part!
And yes, that's a G&L ASAT Special, my personal weapon of choice (which i picked up for $800 from Willies a few years back). Just listen to how bright, punchy, and versitile this guitar is!
ASAT stands for "After Strat, After Tele" and was designed by George Fullerton & Leo Fender. Leo Fender sold Fender back in the 60's (I believe) to CBS because he had cancer. His cancer disappeared, came back to Fender and didn't like how it was ran. That's why if you can get your hand on a pre-CBS Fender guitar, don't ever sell it! Leo then started up G&L with George Fullerton, so that he could make the guitar that he's always wanted. Off the rack, G&Ls sound better than most Fenders, and if you can get one used, they're way cheaper than most Fenders as well.
