i am Yours!

this weekend was totally relaxing! we finally got to spend time with our parents in dixon. the last few times we went to IL we didn't get to see them at all. johan and i left on friday and took our time driving down. we hung out with my mom and then on saturday nite my dad came home from training. my mother-in-law is awesum, she treats me just like a daughter and cooked me khob poob (my favorite dish!) just like how my mom cooks for me every time she knows im coming to visit. =) we had breakfast with them and then took off for chicago on sunday. went to the u2 concert which was INCREDIBLE and SURREAL! more on that to come later. =)

then we slept at sam & geus but didn't get to spend any time with them. :( we got to hang out with riley & kam though and then came home yesterday nite. here are some pics of them when we visited last time. man i love those little kids! kam is growing up so fast and he's learning how to be naughty hehe. riley is super cute when she talks. i wish we could spend more time with them and watch them grow up. . .



i dont know why i didn't take any pictures of dixon as johan showed me around his hometown. dixon is the kind of town that everyone goes to the same doctor and the same dentist. everyone knows each other and notices when someone new moves into town. its a nice little town to grow up in. its totally different from the town i grew up in minnesota! i think its so awesum how johan went to school with people he knew from elementary school. he showed me the local mall (which was in the next town over), his church, where his parents worked, all his schools, the place where he had his first job, and arthur's deli! yum yum! johan had the "work of art" sandwich and i had a chili & cheese baked potato. it was delicious! haha. best baked potato hands down.




johan also showed me his grandpa's grave (on his dad's side). it was really special to be able to do that and i truly appreciated johan's desire to show me his grandpa's grave. from the stories johan told me about his grandfather making grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron and carrying around a rubberband which he snapped on johan's hand if he was bad, it sounded like he was a really cool grandpa. =) it was honor visiting you grandpa. one day we shall meet!



we went to the state fair TWICE this year haha. its funnie because we never go. this was johans first time there. i think he enjoyed it. we look forward to more fried fatty foods next year. the first time we went with my sister, her husband, my brother and his gf. the second time we went with cheng, leng, anna, peyton & taylor. it was so cute because taylor pretty much slept the entire time we were there hehe. they are the most beautiful babies ever! i just want to kiss them and pinch them! haha.









im thinking of mao's post from the weekend and how we can feel so empty and distant from God even though sometimes we are immersed in all these activities that would make it seem as though we should be close to Him. i am feeling that same way this morning as i sit at school. oh how i yearn for Him and His peace. things are tough with my family right now and my heart aches for my parents in MI. i wish i could give my all to them, but i can't...i know You are watching over them though and i shall entrust my anguish over to You. i ache and yearn for You, Lord....
