Zendikar: Landfall

I’m pretty excited for the new Zendikar set coming out in a month. I will miss 5CC, but not Fae. I’ve played against Fae a few times and have never lost to it, so I’m not worried about it. But it seems like I will be playing Fae in Extended because 5CC is just too slow.

The new Landfall ability seems like it has the potential to be broken. Landfall makes cards like Rampant Growth, Borderland Ranger, Terramorphic Expanse, and the Panoramas really good.

Imagine you have this guy out…

Not too bad… a 6/6 trampler for 6 mana… now imagine if you have a Terramorphic Expanse & 2 Naya Panoramas in play. At the end of your opponents turn, you can sac the Terramorphic & fetch 2 lands with the Panoramas and next thing you know, you have 3 4/4 Beasts in play. Not too bad!

Or let’s say you’re behind and your opponent has 3 creatures in play and all you have is a Rampaging Baloths. You draw a Terramophic Expanse, play it, get a 4/4 Beast, tap & sac the Terramorphic for a Basic Land, that comes into play tapped, and you get another 4/4 Beast! Before this round you were behind in creatures and probably in tempo, but now with Landfall you just netted 2 4/4 Beasts and you’ve yet to play a spell!

Another reason why Landfall could be awesome is that IT CAN’T BE COUNTERED! You can’t counter a land because it’s not a spell, Landfall is an ability which can’t be countered or Silenced either! WOW! Zendikar better have some good cheap counterspells, or else U will be hurting, it’s already hurting because of Great Sable Stag & Volcanic Fallout.

I’m sure people are brewing up Landfall/Realm Razor decks right now.

I am a huge fan of free spells, that’s why I like the Storm, Dredge, & Cascade abilities. Depending on what kind of Landfall abilities there are, I too might be a huge fan of Landfall. Plus, it makes getting mana flooded way more fun!

The Zendikar Pre-Release is on September 26th & 27th. Is it just me or did the prices go down? I swear these Pre-Releases used to cost $35, but this one is only $25 to play Sealed. Plus Booster drafts are only $15 now, I thought they used to be $18!

My DCI Score is 1741 at the moment. I jumped up 10 points because an event finally got processed. I did some back tracking and realized that there were two other events that never got processed, oh well…
