Guitar – G&L ASAT Special (2-Tone Sunburst on Alder w/ Rosewood Neck) w/ White Pearloid Pickguard, Top Wood Binding, Chrome Hardware, White Accessories, & 2 Magnetic Field Design Pickups (White; Neck & Bridge)
Strings – Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Strings (Lime Green Packaging; .010 - .046)
Picks – Dunlop Nylon Standard .88mm Dark Gray (I hold these picks backwards so that the fat end with the bumpy grip hits the strings, this gives my tone extra chime and brightness.)
Slides – 2 various slides that I really don’t know how to use
Capo – Dunlop Trigger Electric Guitar Capo (Black)
My Pedal Board:
Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner (You have to stay in tune! Playing an out of tune guitar is like playing basketball with a deflated basketball.)
Ibanez TS5 Soundtank Tubescreamer w/ a self-modified Indy Guitarist Standard Mod (probably my favorite overdrive right now, it’s very transparent and bright. I love transparent overdrives because you can hear the subtle vibratos and style of how a person fingers a chord or note.)
Ibanez TS5 Soundtank Tubescreamer w/ a self-modified Indy Guitarist BSM Mod (a much heavier and fatter overdrive tone. I like this one a lot as well.)
1-Loop Bypass (I made this myself and it looks kind of ugly but it gets the job done.)
(inside the 1-Loop Bypass) Line 6 POD X3 (this thing is pretty amazing! I remember the day that Pajjar and I were at Guitar Center and I asked Pajjar if I could get it and she said, “Sure, if you want to.” Thanks hun! The POD controls my tremolos, delays, whammy, reverbs, volume, wah, heavier distortions, weird sound effects, pads, it might even replace my tuner in the future!)
Line 6 FBV (this thing controls my POD X3)
BBE Sonic Stomp (this little guy is amazing, it’s so subtle but so essential to my tone)
Amp – Epiphone Valve Jr. w/ a BitMo Trio Mod
Cab – Lopo Line Cabinet with a 12” Guitar Speaker Warehouse Speaker (sounds very similar to a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker)
One of my new favorite guitarist is Taylor Johnson. Here's his rig above. He's played for a bunch of big names like Shane and Shane. For the past couple of years, he's been playing with the Robbie Seay Band (their last album had some killer guitar riffs on it) and is currently playing with Phil Wickham (I've heard part of his new CD so far and it sounds like his best work so far, it's very electric, probably thanks to Taylor Johnson.)Here's a Robbie Seay Band clip with Taylor playing. It's subtle but he actually loops the intro guitar part and then switches some settings and then plays the main riff when the rest of the band enters. It's pretty cool! I also like the guitar work in the bridge at 3:21.
"If you choose to love
To know that the call
Is to give all you are
To give love away, away
Rise, rise, people of love rise
People of love rise, give yourself away
Rise, rise, people of love rise"
Have a great weekend everyone!
