Regional Worldwake Pre-Release

Saturday I went to the Worldwake (WW) Pre-Release. My pool (3 Zendikar & 3 WW) was decent. I had really good G cards (Omnath, Locus of Mana, Rampaging Baloth, & a lot of mana ramp spells) & good B removal (Hideous End, Smother, & Dead Reckoning). I forgot to bring my Moleskin so I didn’t take any notes. I went 3-1 piloting B/g and won 3 packs because I offered my last opponent a 3/2 prize split, whom I defeated.

Right afterward, I joined the 2 Headed Giant (2HG) tournament with Kent from the Source. 2HG is really fun and is really challenging! I would to do it again! I played B/g, while Kent played R/w. We ended up going 2-1 and winning 3 packs each.

I also was able to trade my two Baneslayers and some other junk for 4 Forces of Will! My Merfolk deck is almost done! I just need 4 Aether Vials, 4 Standstills, & a sideboard now! Nice!

My thought about WW:

It’s really fun to Draft & Seal! I cracked my packs and it was mediocre. It’s nice to crack a rare manland but at the same time it’s manland… I’m going to try really hard to not crack anymore packs and really play as much Limited as I can, since my Limited score is only 1596.

Dead Reckoning is pretty decent, I consider it Tier 1 removal, not Hideous End or Disfigure good, but still Tier 1.

Omnath, Locus of Mana is a beast! It’s a three-drop that grows! It’s almost like a Tarmogoyf in decks that are heavy G. I might pick up some more online.

2HG IS REALLY FUN!!! For Zen/WW Sealed 2HG, the first thing you want to do is see which two colors have the most Allies. With one deck abusing the Ally synergy and the other deck using the best cards from the three other colors, you should be able to do well.

2HG is a really fair format. In Sealed, if the other person has a really good pool, you pretty much just lose. But in 2HG, since it’s slower and you have more life, the best deck made decks tend to win. A lot of the games came down to the wire and were super intense! I think the fairness of this format is what makes me like it so much. Too bad Pre-Releases are the only chances you get to play 2HG Sealed.

For $50, I received and earn 20 packs total (averaging to about $2.50 per pack), 2 cool tall, long deck boxes (like my Artifact & U long, tall deck boxes), 10 hours of entertainment, 2 Comet Storms, & improved my DCI score! Not too bad...

Also, you can draft ZZW @ Bestiaire for free!
