things on my mind--

man its 1am and johan and i are just going to bed. with our new wii, its been a challenge to sleep early. =) tonite we bought super mario bros and we beat the first level. so much fun, but i gotta tell ya--people's true character come out when they play video games. hahaha.

one a more serious note, this morning as i was walking into work, i saw an old man pushing a cart of food out to his car. where i work, there's a food shelf. and the food shelf is actually the largest single food shelf site in the county. i thought to myself: "how selfish am i? i get angry about little useless things in life and there are people who don't even have the basic necessities in life." something like food!! i complain about trivial things--and i have no right to complain when there's someone in front of me who doesn't have money to buy food. gosh, i was completely humbled in that instant. i almost wanted to cry because of this realization...i ended up emailing our "basic needs" manager and told her about my experience that morning and how it suddenly dawned on me the true meaning of the name of her department. she responded by saying: "and that's why you're perfect for non-profits." *sigh* i dont know if im meant to be here or not, but i do know that each day im learning something different...

so this morning i was chatting with johan and we got on the issue of whether or not girls have HOBBIES. i know our guy friends always complain that the girls don't have hobbies, but i find that to be quite frustrating. just because we don't organize together and meet weekly (or every other day if you play magic in MN haha) that doesn't mean that us girls don't have hobbies. all of us girls have hobbies, some are similar, but some are different. so i beg to differ with how we always get categorized as having no hobbies. i find it to be insulting to tell u the truth. many of the IL and MN girls i know like: scrapbooking, crafts, volunteering in the community, bowling, kickboxing, reading, etc. just to name a few. i know the guys volunteer at church too, but most women i know volunteer in addition to church, and i would say that's a hobby, a very important one--service. also, my circle of friends and i are into wine tasting and johan and i love trying out new restaurants! i would say those are hobbies...! so yeah, johan and i got into a heated discussion about it and im glad he saw my perspective as valuable pretty quickly into the conversation. so i guess this is to say: we DO have hobbies!

well i finally found my nude pumps shopping with a friend during lunch yesterday. =) i was so ecstatic! i cant wait to wear them tomorrow. even tho my work place is very relaxed and casual, i try to dress up everyday and wear heels because i feel better overall! i can't wait for the spring. corals are VERY in right now and i cant wait to wear my nude pumps with orange, yellow, beige, coral, and spring/summer colors! my sisters and i are also trying to make headbands like the ones we see at jcrew and ann taylor loft. im super excited because its so girlie! i really want to find a cute whimsical floral one i can wear, haha.

alrite its 1:30 am. gotta go to bed. goodnite!

I always read yours and johan's blog and this one is funny because of my recent ramblings of girls that don't have hobbies. :)

yes, I know girls have hobbies too.

Web Definition: A hobby is an activity or interest that is undertaken for pleasure or relaxation, often in one's spare time.

Guys just go to the extreme with their hobbies - like Magic... as you clearly see with the guys there.

what?! girls have no hobbies? no. no. no. guys who say that have no clue. besides, a lot of women have kids to tend to, so maybe they don't have time for a hobby. what about girls who collect hello kitty stuff? i know a lot of girls who used to do that. my sister used to collect anything turtle related. that's a valid hobby i say. i collect milk glass vases. my mother-in-law goes antiquing (that's going to antique shops & finding "treasures").
anyway, we'd love to go to Subo with you & Johan. maybe sometime in April?
