For as many hours you have spent reading up, listening up, chatting up, etc., about the upcoming election. How many hours have spent on praying for our candidates and the future of our country? I could of sent in my vote a while ago but you see, I haven't prayed enough about it. You see, God tells us that we need to pray for those in leadership positions because He's allowed them to be there to lead us. They need our help, they need our prayers, we need them to lead us properly!
Also, remember that Jesus was NOT a Republican or a Democrat or an Independent or affiliated with any political party. He was not a sexist, He was not a racist, He was not pro-America, He was not anti-America. He was the Son of God (above all political parties), He loved everyone (black, white, half-black/half-white, male, female), He loved this world (not just America). Jesus was defined by His love, we unfortunately are defining ourselves by what we hate.
As Christians, we are to follow this example. But sometimes we come off as more Republican/Democrat then we do Christian. Last I checked, Jesus did not tell us to be so political that people forget that we are followers of God. Perhaps you need to say a prayer of forgiveness? I definitely know that I need to.
I forget sometimes to put more faith in God then I do in our government. I totally understand why the Isrealites wanted a King to rule over them, and I understand why God kept on telling them "No!" He knew that they, including I, would put too much faith in government and not enough in Him. God warned us that a king would tax us, make our sons fight and die in wars, that our daughters would work as slaves for the king, that our grains and grapes would be taken from us. God warned us about having a government and putting too much faith in that system. I need forgiveness!
Please remember to pray for our leaders! Please remember to pray before you vote! Please remember that your faith in Jesus, makes you a Christian, not a Republican or Democrat! Vote Jesus for president! He is the King of Kings and the President of Presidents!
