No Longer Purpose Driven

Saddleback Church and Rick Warren are no longer "Purpose Driven!" I'm just joking! I just found out that this year they've decided to drop that tag line from their church and vocabulary. Pastor Warren never intended it to be a brand or the focus of their church. He states that this decision was not a big deal to him or his church and that it was more a strategic decision than a spiritual one. They still are and will continue to be purpose driven but without the title.

Did you know that Saddleback Church sponsors more missionaries and has sent more people overseas for short-term and long-term ministries than the entire C&MA over the past 5 years? That's pretty amazing when you think about it. Imagine if your church was able to focus on something for 8 years, I'm pretty sure that the fruits of that kind of dedication would be amazing!

Pajjar and I read the Purpose Driven Life (PDL) together while we were dating and it was helpful to us individually and as a couple. It makes sense to drop the PDL title, I mean it did come out over 8 years ago and things have changed. Plus, I believe he has a new book coming out this year so maybe there will be a new "PDL." Who knows?
