Weekend Update

So Vipat and Isiah came up last weekend to hang out and hang out we did!

Friday we (Me, Isiah, Vipat, Chong, Second, Vern, Blong, and Peter) went to FNM @ Monster's Den. We had an okay time there. We didn't do all that well, but it was a good learning experience. There were some jerks at that place. The second guy I played, Thickle was his name, was talking trash the whole time. He Thoughtsieze me and was talking trash about my hand. "Condemn? That card sucks! It'so pre-Worlds man! Cruel Ulitmatum? Why do you still play with that?" Also in game 1, I accidentally drew two cards instead of one and he raised his hand and said out loud, "Judge I want to give this guy a warning." I apoligized and took the judge's warning. But remember that only judges can give warnings, not players. That jerk!

In the second game he Alpha striked with an army and was like "Do you really want to play this out? We only have like 20 minutes." I replied, "Yes I do." Then flashed a Cloudthresher into play killing his Sower of Tempation, regaining control of my Rhox War Monk. I killed his Clone of my Rhox War Monk with the Clouthresher and killed his Tidehollow Sculler with my regained Rhox War Monk. I won that game and I thought I made him shut up.

BUT NO! He kept on talking trash! He pulled this combo off on me that I didn't know existed with Tidehollow Sculler. By that time, we had a bunch of people watching our game. He was so geeked that he did something that I didn't know could be done that after I said "Wow, I didn't you could do that." He yelled out "Oh yeah! I just pulled off a combo! HIGH FIVE SOMEONE!" He stuck his arm straight out and looked to our onlookers to see if anyone would give him a high five. Everyone just looked at him all weird. I laughed out loud because he just got denied a high five. Hahaha! That jerk!

After the third round, everyone left to go eat except for Blong, Second, and Me. We played our forth round and all lost making us 2-2 for the night. We decided to drop and go home to draft with the rest of the guys.

Later that night at Vern's we drafted. I drafted a Jund deck and went 3-0. I beat Blong, Peter, and Chong. By that time everyone else had already took apart their decks.

On Saturday, I met up with the guys and we went on a what we call up here, "The Wild Goose Chase." That's when we go and hit up as many Magic stores as possible. We went to Outpost 2000 and Vern, Blong, and I split that new Jace/Chandra deck box thing. We then went to Beyond Shinders by Chong's house and I got me 2 Siege-Gang Commanders and a Vizzerdix. We then went to Dreamers and I got 2 Runed Halos and some other cards. Both Isiah and Chong bought some Warhammer dice which comes with a Scatter dice (perfect for multi-player games), Vipat came home a Beta Japanese Birds of Paradise and a Carlos Romao World Champion Psycatog deck. We went bowling afterwards but I didn't bowl. Vern, Vipat, and I went to Subway and then at the bowling alley we played Alien vs. Predator in the arcade. After that we all went to Blongs to play a little Magic. We were supposed to play 3 rounds of Saturday Night Magic (SNM), but everyone was too tired.

On Sunday I had an awesome bowl of Udon at E-Noodle. I love their Udon, the best that I've ever had!!! We then went back to Blong's to draft Shwd-Shwd-Evnt. I won the tournament by going 3-0 and defeating Vipat in the final match. I drafted an all red deck. Why? Because red is probably the strongest color when drafting those two sets. There's a lot of natural synergy and with cards like Burn Trail and Giant Baiting, you can easily conspire those cards.

Overall, it was an awesome weekend! I went 2-2 @ FNM w/ Second and Blong. Everyone else went 1-2. In the two drafts we did, I went 3-0 in both. I've got some momentum right now, so hopefully it'll translate into me winning a box this FNM.
