the week before we left for vegas, johan and i went to the library and checked out some books. i was soooo excited! i felt like i was 10 years old again haha. when we were little, my dad used to take us to the library all the time. all of us kids would always come home with an armful of books. growing up my favorite book was "norma jean jumping bean." it was a book about a kangaroo who jumped too much and got her friends mad, so she stopped jumping. =)
i came home with 7 novels that nite to read and one of those books was "a painted house" by john grisham. i love reading his books! you would think i would be sick of reading about law, but these are nothing like the textbooks i read haha. plus "a painted house" is like 1 of 2 books john grisham wrote that's not about LAW. the book is set in the 1940s in arkansas and the narrator is a 7 y.o. boy named luke. his family farms cotton and he encounters some events that summer that changes his life forever. its SUCH a good book. the author invoked certain images from my past when life was simpler and problems included what to eat for dinner and when you could escape from your chores to play.
we never farmed, but my mom always had her typical garden where she grew vegetables in the backyard. she'd always make us water her plants, veggies, and flowers and all of us kids would hate it. our adventures were spent bike riding and causing havoc when we went to the parks and my brothers would bring birds, ducks, and turtles home from the creek. *sigh* good memories. a wonderful summer read that solicited great childhood memories of a simpler time...
there are just a few more pictures from vegas that i wanted to share. im home from work today, so i have a bit of free time to blog! here's me and johan at the legendary fao schwarz, the oldest toy store in america:

here are some images from the bellagio. it was one of the nicer hotels on the strip that johan and i would consider staying at in the future. each hotel had a theme and the bellagio seemed to have this extremely fun, flowery, artistic them to it. there were animals that were made up of flowers like this lady bug and the small ferris wheel in the hotel. it was a magical place to visit, totally cute and enchanting.

this was a shirt we found in one of the boutiques in las vegas. johan REALLY wanted it, and i told him to get it, but he didn't want to spend $30 on a t-shirt he said. lol. its cute though, isn't it? its so johan too. hes got a silly nerdy sense of humor. :)
here i am sitting on a fountain outside the Forum Shops at Caesars. it was 100 degrees every day we were there. i just wanted to jump in the water!

lastly, here is johan getting his fortune read from the marvelous Zoltar! his fortune was that he needed to spoil his wife more and not use money on m10 cards!!! =D

haha im jk hun. johans taking this friday off to hang out with all the guys plus josh and vipat who are coming up from IL. hes very excited to play magic and has been shopping on ebay for cards. =P
as for me, ive got a huge to-do list that ive got to get started on TODAY! its raining outside, but im gonna try to be productive. ive got work to do for the judge, ive gotta clean the house, run some errands, and send out some thank you cards.
have a great day people!

Love the t-shirt. She should have bought it. Taylor loves that kind of stuff too. Glad the two of you had a good time in Vega.
ditto on the shirt. clever. i'm leaving aug 6. coming back with maisue, but i'm leaving a day earlier, so i should be back my aug 18. i wish it was longer, but i'll take what i can get.
we're all kids again when it comes to magic.
I went to an interview to go back to school. I have 1 semester left in my undergrad and am finally staking a claim in completing the degree. It's exciting and scary but good. I have lots of mixed feelings about school in general and about Hamline in particular. But I'm going back, well, I hope. I'll hear from them in about a week. And about a MLS, I'm all for it. I plan on pursuing that eventually. So, yes, libraries are changing, information and technology are changing. There's been a big number of people in our age group pursuing this (from what I hear) but I think your specialty in law would make you indispensible.
