Nationals and X-Games

At the end of day 1 of Nationals, Lee Steht (of manation.com, one of my favorite M:TG podcasts/videocasts) was in 25th place. I honestly was surprised. I was hoping that he would make the top 8, so at the end of day 2 I checked and... Lee Steht got 15th! Dang it! SO CLOSE!!! But still he did an awesome job! I wonder what deck he played, maybe Faeries?

4 of the top 8 decks were 5CC, most of them were replicas of Shuhei's deck from Japan Nationals. 2 of the top 8 decks were 5C w/ Quick 'n Toast (QnT) technology (QnT is anything with evoke spells and Makeshift Mannequin). I had a feeling QnT was going to make a comeback, the meta is perfect it right now. 1 of the top 8 was regular 5CB w/ 2 Sygg, CT. Sygg, CT & Lightning Bolt, such a powerful combo! And the final deck was a rogue deck: W/R Control! It has no creatures but it does have 2 Elspeth, a Call the Skybreaker (which Vern was smashing me with last weekend), and 4 Goblin Assaults, which are really tough for 5CC decks to deal with.

That W/R Control deck is perfectly set up for the meta of the top 8. But those 5CC decks have the tools to defeat almost any deck, it's just if they draw it and play their cards right.

I guess Volcanic Fallout and Great Sable Stag were too much for those Fae decks.

I can't wait for the X-Games to start. I love the X-Games, I personally enjoy it more than the olympics. Some people think that the X-Games are stupid and these people aren't atheletes but I think those people are close minded and/or ignorant.

Bring on the X-Games!

the reason why xgames are fun to watch, everything is highlight material.
