-listening to pastor dave's mind-boggling sermon on sunday.
pastor dave spoke about "the rich man and lazarus" parable in luke 16:19 about the rich man who would always step over lazarus, a beggar with sores all over his body. the rich man went on to Hades and the poor man passed on to be by abraham's side. the rich man never saw the poor man as his equal and he was still in belief that the poor man should serve him even as he sat in hell. thats why even in his agony he asked lazarus to get him some water.
pastor dave unpacked this parable a bit more and stated that in our life here on earth, we may at times hate some "type" of person so much that we refuse to have anything to do with them. we step over them all the time. people we encounter everyday. at one point, God will grant you that wish of having nothing to do with the people whom you despise. however, this doesn't necessarily mean that you will be beside God either...ultimately the rich man went to hades and the poor man was with God.
who are people that you step over? who are the lazarus' in your life?
