My Jetta just hit 150,000 miles! Woo hoo!!! I'll put up a blog about my car in a few days.
I haven't been paying a lot of attention to the whole health care reform because I know that it's an emotional topic for me. I have a lot of family that work in health care and I know that this reform will greatly cause them more stress and some might even lose their jobs.
When ever Pajjar comes home and comments about her health I get concerned because she doesn't have any health insurance. Pajjar and I honestly can't afford any and we make too much to be covered by the State (apprently any thing over $25,000 for a household of 2 is too much... rediculous...) I look at my parents and am blown away by how much their Cobra is every month (my dad got laid off earlier this year). I'm dreading December because that's when their Cobra ends and who knows what will happen then. I've got other friends who have no health coverage either and I worry for them.
I know that our current health care system isn't perfect nor completely fair but is there such a thing as a perfect and fair system? I don't necessarily think that health care is our problem. I think America's problem with health care is that we're LAZY BUMS WHEN IT COMES TO OUR HEALTH!
We'd rather go to the ER than exercise regularly and eat healthly. Our society is so focused on reactive medicine as opposed to healthy preventative habits.
But I shouldn't say too much because I know I'm a hypocrite when it comes to my health. I know I need to take better care of my body. Maybe that should be our new National Health Care Plan... everybody is forced to exercise at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week or you will go to jail.

To me, health insurance is one of the most important things about a job. That's the main reason I want to work for the gov't (hence, libraries.) I fell like at least it's a little stable and guaranteed.
It's scary here, but in other countries where there really is no health care, it's even more scary! Lots of people (i.e. in China) save money just in case they ever have to go to the hospital and if they do, it could be debt for years.
