Justin Taylor & John Piper vs Rob Bell = WE ALL LOSE!!!

What's going on here? I normally have twitter up all day and late last week I saw that Rob Bell was trending. A few days later, I see he has a new book coming out:

So what's your reactions? To me it sounds incredibly inspirational, the idea that love wins in the end. Yes, there is a heaven and a hell, but guess what? Love wins in the end. So is this why Rob Bell is trending on Twitter and Facebook?

Justin Taylor, a very popular Christian blogger and thinker had a reaction, read it here: http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justintaylor/2011/02/26/rob-bell-universalist/ I respect Justin Taylor, I really do! I subscribe to his blogs, as well as other Gospel Coalition blogs, in my Google Reader.

Justin Taylor, admits that he hadn't read the book yet. But still makes the following statement:

I haven’t read the whole book yet and was hesitant to say something based on the publisher’s description (which usually isn’t written by the author). But this video from Bell himself shows that he is moving farther and farther away from anything resembling biblical Christianity.

The Christian Facebook and Twitter-verse blew up! John Piper even tweeted:

Farewell, Rob Bell.

I'm no where in position to make a comment on theology but this is ugly! More than anything I'm saddened by this whole thing.

Watch the video again. It didn't seem like Rob Bell was proclaiming anything, rather he was asking thought provoking questions. I like how one person said it on twitter: "Some people are more offended by the idea of every1 going to heaven than by the idea of every1 going to hell."

Anyways, I can see where these guys are coming from. I can also see where Rob Bell comes from. In the end, Love does win, it really does. I'm quite intrigued by what Rob Bell has to say in this book, I see it as quite inspirational. Right now I'm planning on picking up the book. Not because of the controvery but because I do believe that in the end, love wins.

Unfortunately, when Justin Taylor, John Piper, and other Christians are picking their bone with Rob Bell, the church loses.
