My MacBook

On Sunday night, Pajjar's cup of water (1/3 full) spilt onto my MacBook that I've owned since 2005'ish. YIKES! I quickly opened up my wet laptop and saw that the screen was perfectly normal, whew... and then it went all grey... darn... I then shut down my laptop (to prevent any electrical shorting), took out the battery, and dried my laptop with some napkins. I also used Pajjar's hair dryer, on the cool setting, to dry my MacBook.

Owly Images
I then hung my laptop upside down, with it open (like in the picture above). I wanted to leave it like that for a couple of days so that all of the water could dry out and so that it wouldn't short anything. But before I went to bed, I had to know if it was okay or not. Luckily, everything was fine! Whew! Pajjar felt bad, but in the end everything was fine.

Luckily Pajjar and I back up our computers like crazy, our computers backup automatically every hour, thanks to our Time Capsule!

In Review:
1. Make sure you backup frequently!
2. Don't open your laptop if it gets wet. When you open it, it sends a electrical signals to the rest of your computer to turn on. If there's water in it, those electric currents will travel through the water and send those electrical signals to where they're not supposed to go, thus damaging your laptop. Keep the laptop closed!
3. Unplug it and take out the battery. This will cut power from your laptop and reduce your chance of shorting it.
4. Start to dry your laptop. If you use a hairblower, use it on the "cool" setting. Don't microwave your laptop!
5. Open your laptop and hang it upside down (like in the picture above) until it's dried, this may take a few days. When it's upside down you're making the water drip away from the top of your motherboard.

Hopefully this is enough to save your laptop, if not, at least you have your info backed up, I hope!
