Johan’s Overdrive: a combination of my favorite light overdrive pedals. A Tube Screamer, Boss SD-1, & a Fulldrive that’s bright, super transparent, and just mid-rangy enough to cut through a band. It doesn’t have a crazy amount of gain but is perfect when you need some dirt. I also want to add a clean blend knob to it but we’ll see if I can figure out how to do that.
Johan’s Overdrive 2: a combination of a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, Marshall Blues Breaker, OCD, and RAT! This pedal will cover my heavier gain needs and might sound a little British, we’ll see how it turns out. Imagine: pure, saturated gain that’s reactive, transparent, and yet heavy. GLORIOUS!
Johan’s Perfect Solo: a combination of a killer FUZZ for those perfect Hendrix-style leads that can also be cut down to just a clean fat-boost, perfect for those solos and riffs. I know a lot of people like Treble Boosters but I see a greater need for a fuzz/fat-boost pedal as opposed to a fuzz/treble boost pedal.
I have no current need to make anything besides overdrive, distortion, fuzz, and boost pedals because those are what I need at the moment. I’m using my POD X3 for all of my mods, delays, and reverbs at the moment. Wish me luck!
Rarely do I see a guitar that makes me drool, here are some of them:
Breedlove Revival 000-12 Jeff Tweedy Model ($4,500) - If it's good enough for Jeff Tweedy, then it's more than enough for me! After owning a big body acoustic guitar, my dreadnought, I want something smaller with a different tone, that's one reason why I'm looking at 000 guitars like Martin's Eric Clapton model and Breedloves's Jeff Tweedy model.
G&L ASAT Z-3 (around $1700) - I want a strat sounding guitar but something different, I think the Z-3 is exactly what I'm looking for.
PRS Starla (about $1800) - I want one in Catalina Dream! That color just looks amazing!
Fender Classic Player Thinline Tele (about $1200) - Last year Fender released some new versions of the Thinline Tele and I think this one look amazing! It's black with chrome accessories and a white 3-layer pickguard on a semi-hollow Tele body... amazing! It looks so good!
