SXSW

SXSW... it's an indie music lover's dream! A whole week of nothing but great music, you literally go from venue to venue all day, most venues are located within the main strip of venues. You wander in because you hear something different, next thing you know, you just saw and heard the most amazing thing ever. You walk out, you look at your cell phone and it's only 11:45am, you grab some tavern food, while you watch another great band, you then go see another band play, then another, then another, you grab some dinner, and wait for the band you've been wanting to see for a couple of years now, they play, you have a great time, you go watch another band play, then another, then it's 2AM and you go to bed, repeat this for 9 more days.

Some bands I've heard from SXSW:

Nneka - her heart and philosophy reminds me of Bob Marley, but she's Nigerian

Janelle Monae - the beats of Outkast and character of Gnarls Barkley, a completely engaging entertaining, she blows my mind

Vampire Weekend - Cousins from their new CD Contra

The Jim Jones Revue - I know... what just happened... that was amazing...

The Middle East - so good... when I heard this, i wanted to pull over and just listen

Chatmonchy - I swear I've heard these girls from animes before like Fooly Cooly and maybe Naruto...

Freelance Whales - "Feel Infinite," I like that line...

More from Freelance Whales - there's something organic and pure about their music, it almost brings a tear to my eyes

Girl Talk - You guys have to get "Feed the Animals!" It was definitely my favorite CD of 2009!
