Avengers Disassemble Review

Just finished reading Avengers: Disassemble, here’s a synopsis (SPOILER ALERT!!!).

Jack of Hearts, an Avenger who just died saving Ant Man’s daughter, returns back to the Avenger’s mansion in a half-zombie like state. Jack of Hearts, releases a lot of energy, so much that he can’t control it at times, he once recharged his mom’s alien planet’s dying sun with his energy. Anyways, Jack of Hearts returns, says “I’m sorry,” and then explodes, destroying the mansion and killing Ant Man.

Vision, not under his own control, crashes the Avenger’s jet into the mansion and releases 4 or 5 Ultron robots. Vision too apologizes for what is about to happen before he releases Ultron.

She-Hulk, goes crazy because Ant Man just died, the Mansion is destroyed, Ultrons are hard to destroy, and because she’s She Hulk (she has anger issues). In her rage, she almost kills Captain America, critically injures Captain Britain, and rips Vision (who is an android) in half.

Meanwhile Iron Man has to resign as Secretary of Defense due to an incident during a UN meeting. He returns just in time to help stop She Hulk.

Then the Kree, an alien race, shows up and starts attacking the Avengers. In this battle, Hawkeye sacrifices himself to defeat the Kree.

Dr. Strange shows up to warn everyone that he senses that “Magic is being abused” and that the Scarlet Witch is behind all of this. The Scarlet Witch practices Chaos Magic, which allows her to control the outcome of certain events. Most magic is obtained through spirituality like how Dr. Strange obtain his magical powers. The Scarlet Witch (SW), combined her mutant powers with magic, which is a dangerous thing to do. Every time the Scarlet Witch used her magic, she would get a little crazier and crazier because she didn’t develop her magic properly through spirituality, she cheated by using her mutant powers. The SW previously created a reality where she had two children; in some way she blamed the Avengers for making her realize that she created this world where she had two children. She blames the Avengers for taking away her two children, which were a figment of her imagination.

After a fight against the SW, she’s knocked unconscious and Magnetto (the SW’s father) shows up and takes her away. Magnetto admits that he raised his daughter, the SW, wrong and that Professor Xavier was right about this is. *I’m not too sure what he’s referencing*

The Avengers then decided to call it quits. She Hulk wants time off because she doesn’t want her powers to hurt anyone. Iron Man can’t afford to support the Avengers in repairing the mansion and needs to figure out what to do in regards to his former duty as Secretary of Defense. Some of the other Avengers decided that it’s time for them to move on. They all decided to disassemble and call it quits.

As they leave the mansion, there’s a crowd of supporters holding vigil candles and signs thanking the Avengers for all that they have done. *I almost cried here*

In a way the Avengers represent what America stood for, after this great tragedy, like 9/11, America and the Avengers were no longer the same. The world has changed and so must they. This event sets the stage for Civil War, where Iron Man and Captain America declare each other enemies. Civil War sets the stage for the assassination of Captain America. I guess Marvel, in a way, is trying to say that so much of what America stood for is now gone.

Critics corners: The pacing of the story was way too fast. Some of the situations, like the deaths, weren't convincing enough.

Have a great weekend everyone!
