My Weekend

HAPPY HOLY WEEK EVERYONE! Just about 2000 years ago from yesterday, in Jerusalem, everyone was celebrating Jesus. It’s crazy that in the course of a week, those same people will change their cheers of “Hosanna!” to “Crucify Him!”

Friday night was Cheng & Anna’s baby shower. Man, I’m happy for those four! Their lives are going to be absolutely crazy! I love it! It was fun to just hangout, eat, and talk with everyone. I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve been able to do that. I’m blessed to have so many good friends.

On Saturday, Peter, Vern, and I we went on a “Mini-Wild Goose Chase,” we got some good cards. It was good to just play some Magic again with the guys. Ever since the tournament, I’ve been building decks like crazy. I’ve gone from 2 decks (W/R Boat Brew & 5CC) to 6 complete decks & 2 almost completed decks! Here are my decks:

Pauper:
- Kithkin (might change this to W Weenie/Control)
- U/G Madness
- Trinket Solutions (Tinket Mage for Bone Splitter, Viridian Longbow, Spellbombs, etc. – still building)
- Storm (Cabal Ritual & Seething Song to build up mana to play Chromatic Sphere, Chromatic Star, Ideas Abound, Manamorphose, Words of Wisdom, Compulsive Research, etc. to draw cards into a Grapeshot. – still building)
- Contemplating a B/R Madness deck & 2 types of burn decks.
- Pauper is so much fun to build and play! A good Pauper deck can defeat a good Standard deck.

Standard:
- W/R Kithkin (no Ajani Vengeants. My only 2 red spells are 2 Banefires, everything else is W)
- Swans (going to change this to an Extended version, need to make another Standard deck first)

Extended:
- Naya Zoo (I’m trying out the Ranger of Eos build for now. I’m missing Tarmogoyfs, Jittes, and the lands but it’s still fun to play)
- Swans (need to find another Standard deck first, then I'll start building this one)

EDH:
- Johan (still missing a bunch of cards but still playable & fun)

Blong joined us and the four of us played Magic till about 6:30 pm. Pajjar and I then went to a birthday party at Village Wok. We got out around 8:30 so I went to Blong and Peter's to play some more Magic till about 1 am.

I've also been thinking about building a Cube Draft, it's 360 cards that you and 7 others draft with. This is Evan Erwin's from The Magic Show's Cube Draft. I've been looking for an excuse to buy the Goblins vs. Elves, Jace vs. Chandra, & Divine vs. Demonic (comes out this Good Friday) Duel Decks as well as the From the Vault: Dragons box. All of those cards will go right into my Cube Draft. :)

On Sunday, I just did HW, watched basketball, cleaned up the house, took a nap, relaxed.

Basketball teams are so uneven now. I remember when the 95-96 Bulls went 72-10. Now it’s normal for a couple of teams to go 64-18, while some teams go 21-61. Hopefully the Bulls can make a push and get into playoffs.

I’m going to get cable. My wife and I don’t have that much time to relax so when we do, we want to be able to really relax. For me, it’s watching Baseball Tonight on ESPN, for my wife, it’s watching John & Kate Plus 8, The Hills, the NBA Playoff Basketball, Jay Leno, etc.
